Patricia Velásquez

The creative process extends beyond the canvas, photographs or film, as well as the media. It is also a catalyst for charity and philanthropy as well as for activism. Patricia Velasquez, an award-winning actress, history-making model as well as a committed philanthropist and activist, as well as a loving mom, applies an ever-increasing creative flair to everything she does regardless of whether she is starring in blockbusters such as The Curse of La Llorona or launching the Wayuu Taya Foundation, and being as a member of the UNESCO Board. Regardless, she makes major leaps by drawing from her intuition and carefully paving her personal route. She states, "I see my career as a ladder." "I have taken every step up. It was remarkable to do it, because there's been a lot of longevity. I never stopped moving, just kept my head down. The imagery closely resembles the beginning of a new phase. The author was born in Venezuela however, she was raised in France or Mexico. After a few years she decided to move to Venezuela. In South America her parents worked in education. They moved their family into an apartment block with no water and inoperable elevators. Patricia often carried heavy buckets of water up fifteen steps to get water. Between engineering studies and intense dance lessons she aimed to aid the family in every way. The promise she made to her family, which was the key to her rise to the top in the fashion industry, saw her being scouted for modeling in Milan. She remembers, "When they asked me to travel to Italy, I said, 'If can send thirty dollars per month back to Venezuela and it's worth it as it will cover the entire building's water'." Patricia's achievements marked an important moment in fashion as she attracted industry attention to South America for the first time. Following her becoming "the first Karl Lagerfeld model ever photographed", she went on to appear in editorial spreads and advertisements for the front of Chanel as well as Dolce & Gabbana. She was also featured in Oprah's "Supermodel of the World Contest" by Ford Models. Also she was featured on the covers of Vogue, Bazaar, Marie Claire and many others.
